Creating an Assembly Order

There are two ways to create an Assembly Order:

  1. Sales Order Layout
  2. Item Layout

Sales Order Layout

If a Finished Good or Work in Progress is added to a Sales Order (i.e. as a Sales Order Line), Trayse Inventory will first check to see if there are any items already built and available to pick.  If there are, no Assembly Order will be created.  If there are some items available but not enough to fulfill the Sales Order Line request, then the items that are available will be allocated and sent to a Pick document and an Assembly Order will be created for the balance quantity.  If there are no items available to fulfill the request, an Assembly Order will be created.

The quantity that needs to be assembled will be marked as On Backorder for that item.  The process of starting and completing and Assembly Order will move that quantity out of On Backorder and into On Hand and Allocated (see Assembly Order Process).

Item Layout

If a Finished Good or Work in Progress is requested from the Item layout, a card window will display, requesting the quantity and warehouse.  Both are required before proceeding.

The quantity requested will be marked as On Backorder for that item.
